CRUST Celebrates First Anniversary in Downtown Fenton

CRUST, a full-service retail and wholesale baking company located in downtown Fenton, MI, is celebrating its first anniversary!

“We’re very grateful for the enthusiastic welcome we’ve received from Fenton and the surrounding communities and want to invite everyone to help us celebrate our one-year anniversary. Please join us for a slice of cake and outdoor tour of the entire bakery,” says CRUST Executive Baker Mike Green.

The anniversary event will be held on Saturday, February 2nd from noon to 3 p.m. In addition to the cake and tour, other savory baked goods and drawings to win signature items will be part of the celebration.

After the success of The Laundry restaurant in Fenton for 12 years, owners were ready to expand with a full-service bakery that would supply the restaurant as well. Research trips were taken to Montreal, Toronto and New York City to find the best products possible. Executive Baker Green also became certified as an artisan bread baker at the French Culinary Institute in New York.

Working with local business people in Fenton, the property at 104 W. Caroline St. was secured for the future bakery location. Extensive renovations occurred, including installing artisan-styled ovens from Verona, Italy, and large glass windows in the front of the building to showcase the bakers. CRUST opened on February 1, 2012.

CRUST is dedicated to excellence in artisan principles,with all-natural ingredients that are locally sourced and organic whenever possible.CRUST products are handcrafted in small batches by traditional baking methods on their premises seven days a week.

CRUST offers an extensive range of products including delicious artisan breads, Viennoiserie pastries, cookies, donuts, muffins, scones, and 2 lb. fruit pies made famous by co-owner Mark Hamel at The Laundry. Or, try their winter lunch menu items, featuring made to order sandwiches, rustic pizzas, and The Laundry’s housemade soups.
