On The Cutting Edge

Driven by a love of the craft and a desire to learn, Rashelle Winter manages a successful team of stylists at Supercuts in Fenton Village Marketplace. Supercuts is owned by the Regis Corporation. The unique concept of Supercuts began with the idea that each of their stylists would learn a creative styling technique that was easy to understand. The technique was also easy to teach and help to eliminate common mistakes. Every new stylist must attend a week long hair stylists' academy before working with clients.

For store Manager Rashelle Winter, working at Supercuts is more than just a job. “I love doing hair! Not only do I get to make people feel better about themselves, I also get to know my clients over the years, they become like a second family to me.” Says Winter “I have the privilege to be part of their lives, to share in the ups and downs and make a big difference in their life.” She is constantly seeking out the latest styles and techniques and trying them out on mannequins to perfect the look before offering it to her clients. Rashelle confidently executes all of the services offered at Supercuts. She also loves to teach others as much as she enjoys discovering what is new in the industry. She has been attending specialized training to perfect her own educating technique and is excited for the opportunity to teach others. “I love learning and am a strong believer in the idea that you can never stop learning. Even someone who has been in the industry from 50 years can benefit from taking classes often. I love helping others grasp our concepts, so I am always putting in extra time to help my employees be as successful as possible in the field.” She often steps in when the Artistic Director is unavailable. Rashelle especially enjoys when a stylist experiences an “a-ha” moment, when they suddenly realize a concept. It is at that point when a stylist becomes confident in their craft.

As Supercuts is part of a larger corporation, they always try to locate near a successful anchor store. They chose the Fenton Village Marketplace because it originally housed the Farmer Jack supermarket. Rashelle says they still have a steady clientele after Farmer Jack was no longer part of the shopping center. She feels strongly that efforts are being made to retain business in the Fenton Area. “We continue to increase our client base and remain busy. We have a fabulous staff which plays a significant part into retaining clients,” says Winter. It’s important to Rashelle that their clients know that good customer service is their top priority. “We welcome our guests when they walk in the door and thank them for coming in when they are leaving. We feel if someone is paying for a service they deserve top notch service.” They want people to be happy with the incredible service and price as well as the way they look.

In addition to wonderful customer service, they also give back to the community it other ways. “Although we are a corporate company, we still take part in activities that help the community. We donate products and certificates to schools and other organizations," says Winter. “Also our biggest event of the year is our annual Clip for the Cure. Every September and October we raise money through donations and product sales that go towards finding a cure for breast cancer. We have one Saturday in October where 10% of all hair cuts are also donated. I think people love the idea of knowing that they are helping out a cause just by a simple activity like getting a hair cut.”

In an effort to stay connected to their loyal customers as well as interact with potentially new customers, they take part in the local Silver Lining Rewards program. “Our current clients definitely appreciate the program, especially large families and clients who get multiple services per visit.” They also have a Facebook page with specials that are for the Fenton location only. Rashelle keeps the Facebook page updated as often as possible featuring reviews on the Supercuts stylists. Customers can also sign up to receive emails about specials. "We also match competitor coupons to the best of our ability as long as they are not expired. All of our services are a la carte instead of a set price. If you only need a hair cut, you’ll pay less than the person who gets a wash, cut and style," according to Rashelle. “We also do facial waxing and color, including permanent, demi permanent, and highlights. Guests can also stop in for a basic wash and style if they have an event, or for a more formal occasion they can get an up do.” Supercuts also carries a complete line of hair products to help you maintain your style between visits.
