| Holiday Inn Express will now be Comfort Inn & Suites | | | The new year often brings many changes and 2014 is no exception as
Silver Parkway will see Holiday Inn Express become Comfort Inn &
Suites. The new name brings many new amenities and a lot of exciting
changes.
Owner Nate Patel reflects fondly on how it all began. He
was working on the TRW plant back in 1994 requiring he and his team to
make frequent visits to Fenton. He realized he really liked the area and
as his family was currently working on plans to build a hotel, he
noticed the new PUD, Silver Lake Village, coming up. Nate's family has
been in the hotel business for a long time and they love to interact
with people. They take pride in serving their guests with a clean and
comfortable stay, making them feel at home, when they are away from
home. After talking with the local developer, he liked the site plans
and decided to build a new hotel in Fenton.
Nate said, "From the
beginning we have had a welcome reception and great support from the
community. Fenton welcomed our new hotel and city officials supported
our efforts and made us feel at home. The Fenton area provides us with
an upscale business market, as well as a peaceful and family oriented
community. Everyone is very supportive, all the time." When they built
the hotel in 1999, they had considered the Comfort Inn & Suites
franchise, but the name was not available at the time and so Holiday Inn
Express made its’ debut on Silver Parkway and began serving visitors to
the area. The well-known hotel is situated in the middle of Silver Lake
Village and offers great curb appeal and easy accessibility to all the
businesses on Silver Parkway as well as quick access to downtown Fenton
and the interstate. "From the first day of opening our doors, we have
experienced continued growth and a complete satisfaction of seeing the
Silver Lake Village grow and together, the city of Fenton flourish."
After
many successful years as Holiday Inn Express, Nate said, "We reviewed
the leisure and business guests we serve at our hotel, the type of
amenities our hotel offers and the community we are located in, and we
analyzed the available options for a new franchise. Comfort Inn &
Suites represents an upscale hotel brand with more than 5000 hotels in
the Choice Hotels network. Choice Hotels are well known for providing
comfort to business and leisure guests. So Comfort Inn & Suites was
the first franchise of our choice." They have made several upgrades to
the newly re-branded hotel such as a redesigned entryway with awning and
new carpet. The hotel features a well-maintained, spacious and
welcoming lobby, a dining hall, business center, indoor heated swimming
pool and spa, an exercise room, and a conference room. They have 69
spacious guest rooms, of which 21 are large size suites with additional
spacious sitting area, 6 are Jacuzzi spa suites, and one Executive
suite. All guest rooms are beautifully furnished with the latest
furniture and fixtures, as well as, a microwave and refrigerator in each
room. All guest rooms feature flat screen TV with HD programming.
The
Comfort Inn & Suites change will also include The New "Your Morning
Breakfast". It is full of hot and delicious options, making breakfast
at Comfort Inn hotels the perfect way to start your day. Guests enjoy a
free, hot breakfast featuring eggs, meat, yogurt and fresh fruit, cereal

"Above
all," Nate said, "as we change our name to Comfort Inn & Suites, we
have the same friendly staff (some of us have been serving our guests
for more than 15 years) and a very upgraded hotel facility." Nate said,
"We provide clean, new and well appointed lobby and guest rooms. Our
extraordinary team routinely goes out of their way to take care of the
guests. Once our guest visits our hotel, they want to stay with us over
and over again." He added, "The majority of our staff is hired from
Fenton and the surrounding area as much as possible. We also hire local
vendors to help us upgrade and maintain our hotel." Staff member Tamara
Kelly said, “I have had the privilege to work at our hotel in Fenton
since July of 1999.” She added, “Over the years we have witnessed the
joining of hands in marriage, babies have been born, and loved ones have
been lost. I have developed friendships that will last a lifetime with
employees as well as guests that have returned year after year. The
staff and guests are truly the reason I enjoy coming to work each day.”
Pat, a staff member for over 15 years said, “The part about working at
our hotel that I have enjoyed the most is meeting people from around the
globe. Living in Fenton all of my life, I didn't realize that our
guests would be from all around the world. I personally have met so many
kind people that will return year after year and will ask for me when
they arrive. I have shared both sad and happy times with many guests and
always look forward to meeting new people every day.” Pat also
mentioned, “Although we will be changing brands to the Comfort Inn &
Suites, the owners and staff will remain the same and we look forward
to serving not only our regular guests, but many others as well.”
The
wonderful letters from the guests reflect the professionalism and
superior customer service on which the staff prides itself. A recent
letter from a bereaving family who stayed at the hotel during the
difficult time sings the praises of the entire team, from the front
desk, cleaning and breakfast staff. They expressed “All your kind words,
care and thoughtfulness made our stay a very pleasant experience.”
After mentioning many staff members by name as well as the numerous ways
they accommodated the family’s needs and ever changing itinerary, they
finished the note by saying, “All in all, the Fenton staff is a great
example of what the hospitality industry has to offer.” Karen S.,
another guest visiting the local Michigan Renaissance Festival in Holly,
said, “Our recent stay at your hotel was a very pleasant experience
without one single complaint. How rare is that.” and went on to say, “ I
appreciated the room, price and convenience for our first time visit
and we will be back.” Joan R., a world traveler visiting the area for a
family wedding said, “I have traveled to twenty countries, Alaska,
Hawaii and most of the United States and was so impressed with the
cleanliness of your rooms and halls. Your help was very pleasant and
went out of their way to make our stay really great."
